CIVIL LITIGANTS IN PERSON

Usually due to financial reasons there will be times when a member of the public will deal with a legal issue themselves; perhaps in a family matter where legal aid can’t be accessed or in a civil dispute where the value of the claim is less than £10,000.00 (in which the both sides are expected to pay their own costs instead of the losing side paying them).

Although we would normally recommend that you instruct a solicitor to represent you, we know that this isn’t always affordable so we are offering litigants in person the option to instruct us at certain points as opposed to dealing with an entire case. For example you may wish to instruct us to deal with certain elements of the court proceedings process, such as the preparation of witness statements, or we can simply provide you with advice about things like whether you are likely to win at court or whether you should accept an offer to settle your case, or maybe you just want to know about the procedure which you need to follow.
